A researcher at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem has succeeded in isolating a plant-based antioxidant that counters the breakdown of collagen fibers in the skin.Unlike antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E, which oxidize quickly becoming less potent from heat and time, this new discovery is a stable antioxidant that is more effective in combating the effects of free radicals that leads to aging.The plant source of the antioxidant has not been disclosed yet because the research is being patented. The researcher plans to use it to develop a new generation of anti-aging skincare products.
